About me

Located just a half-hour drive away from downtown Chicago, the city of Joliet, Illinois, attracts over five and a half million visitors annually with its historic landmarks and entertainment attractions, including the Patrick C. Haley Mansion. Able to choose from a selection of over 20 major hotel chains and camping facilities, visitors to the Patrick Haley Mansion can tour the set locations of the smash-hit television show Prison Break or the opening scenes of The Blues Brothers, watch NASCAR races at Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Roadway, or gamble on one of two historic riverboat casinos. Businesspeople and golf enthusiasts can play a few rounds at one of four golf courses, while families enjoy Joliet’s many hike and bike trails, its two miniature golf courses, and the Splash Station Waterpark. However, the most memorable events often take place at Joliet’s feature historic landmark, the Patrick C. Haley Mansion. Commissioned by and named after the city’s former Mayor, the Patrick C. Haley Mansion, designed by the famous architect and Egyptologist Frank Shaver Allen, has watched over the city from its hill since 1889. Guests first encounter the three-and-a-half story limestone façade as they approach the Patrick C. Haley Mansion on its wide front stone portico. Once through its five outer archways, guests can wander through the Patrick Haley Mansion’s three floors of stained glass windows, elaborate ornamentations, detailed friezes, and original woodwork in cherry, mahogany, and oak. After crossing the Patrick C. Haley Mansion’s wide-windowed and high-ceilinged ballroom, guests can enjoy the day’s weather or the night’s starlight through the skylight in the conservatory. Whether observing a ceremony or taking a walk, the expansive gardens of the Patrick C. Haley Mansion offer visitors views of its thousands of annual and perennial flowers, tall pine wonders, ponds, and touches of exquisite landscape in the form of a pair of trickling waterfalls, arbor structures, and an Eastern pagoda.
